While promoting her film, The Switch, Jennifer Aniston expressed her feelings on having a child without a man. Her remarks angered Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly. Here is what was said:
"Women are realizing more and more that you don't have to settle, they don't have to fiddle with a man to have that child.”
"They are realizing if it's that time in their life and they want this part, they can do it with or without that.”
-Jennifer Aniston
"She's throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that hey, you don't need a guy, you don't need a dad."
"That's destructive to our society."
"She's diminishing the role of the dad."
-Bill O'Reilly
If a woman is in a situation in which she is physically, emotionally and financially ready to raise a child I see no reason why she shouldn’t do it, even if it is by herself. A child doesn’t need a biological father to be a father figure to them; it can just as well be a grandfather, uncle, family friend, coach/teacher etc. Are two women or two men who decide to raise a child together destroying our society as well? I think not. Every family is different and unique in its own way. As long as a child is loved and cared for it doesn’t matter who they are being raised by.
What do you have to say about this?
